The story of Lacco Ameno is linked to the devotion to Saint Restituta, an African martyr to whom is also dedicated a church located in the main course and considered by many to be the most beautiful church on the island. The sacred building takes on a special charm, especially at sunset, when the evening colors give a mystic aura above all to the interiors. Under the church, during some restoration works that took place in the 50s, the remains of a Christian cemetery have been found over countless finds from the Greek-Roman period. The excavation area, as well as the annexed museum, can now be visited by accessing directly from the church square. The legend of the landing of Saint Restituta in the bay of San Montano is also commemorated every year in May with a party.
